Well, without a doula bag, you miss out on a lot of comfort options. You want to be smarter than your bodies pain cycle: it starts with feeling scared moves on to feelings of tension and creates in the long run: more pain (or the perception of more pain). We don't want that! But we know that without the powers of pain (those contractions helping baby move "down and out") baby wouldn't get here.
With a doula bag you have options and so do your support partners. It's good to have distractions to block and barrier against the loop of the FEAR, TENSION, PAIN cycles. And a doula bag has some of these helpful tools within.
*Peanut balls and Birth balls
*Lotions of your choice
*Massage tools: yes, that is a rolling pin! And yes, those are pink tennis balls!
*Rice Bags for heat
*English Reusable/Washable icepack/hotpack
*and sometimes sugar/snacks for mom and support group(only if your hospital gives the okay!)
And of course there are lots of things that are up to you and your support (doula):
*Time Wasters: games, movies, ect
Doula bags hold many comfort measures and options, but also remember you have plenty of techniques up your own sleeves and in your own "tool" boxes. Like: *Touch Relaxation and *Breathing Patterns.
