This beautifully written Memoir is worth the read, whether or not you have lost a child. It expresses in blunt, heart-felt emotion that a Mother (and Father) go through when all their hopes and dreams seem dashed and the womb is left eerily empty.
The Author, Elizabeth Heineman, writes this grief strewn memoir with heightened sense and humor. Her short stories, share glimpses into her own fascinating life, continually circling back to the focus. Elizabeth speaks with an open heart about the grief after delivering Thor, stillborn. She recounts the joys leading up to his passing, the fast and painful delivery, and the labor of love it took to bond with her baby's body while struggling to say goodbye.
Ghost Belly is a revealing read for any Doula, but I personally think it has much to say about humanity and love. It is worth the read for anyone who has been through any sort of grief, within labor or in life.
